Title I, Part A

Title I is a 100% federally funded supplemental education program that provides financial assistance to local educational agencies to improve educational opportunities for educationally deprived children. Title I programs are designed to help children meet the state content and performance standards in reading, language arts, and mathematics.

The best thing parents can do to support a child's academic achievement is get involved in the school community. All students in Wilkes-Barre Area School District are Title I students as all schools are designated Title I Schools.

Parent and Family Engagement

The Wilkes-Barre Area School District recognizes that partnership between families and schools are a strong foundation for educational success. Each school, in collaboration with parents, writes its own Parent Engagement Policy.

For more information, visit the Parent and Family Engagement Policy page.

Right to Know

Parents have a right to know the extent of their child's progress. This can be achieved by parent-teacher meetings and active involvement through homework assignments as well as encouraging reading and conversation with their child.
