WEBS Summer Camp

We're Empowered By Science Summer Camp will be held at Wilkes University July 21st-26th from 7:45-3:30.  This camp is open to all 6th to 11th graders.  Students will participate in fun science labs, work with robots, interact with Wilkes University's students and staff, and make new friends.  Students will need to bring a lunch, but snacks and refreshments will be provided throughout the day.  The cost of the 6 day camp is $275. Need-based scholarships are available! Elementary Cyber Students- PSSA Information

Solomon-Plains Elementary School Cyber Academy Parents and Guardians,
 
The 2024 Pennsylvania State Standardized Assessments (PSSAs) will be administered to all students in grades 3, 4, and 5 this year, including in-person and cyber learners on the following dates:
 
English Language Arts (ELA): April 22-April 24, 2024 (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday)
Math: April 29 and April 30, 2024 (Monday, Tuesday)
4th Grade Science: May 1-May 2, 2024 (Wednesday & Thursday)
 *Only 4th Grade students will take the Science PSSAs

Our Solomon Elementary School Cyber Academy students are required to take the assessment. Students will be provided all essential materials for the testing including pencils, calculators, scratch paper, etc. Cyber Academy students will enter the main doors at 11:30 a.m. They will be subjected to security screenings and protocols. Students will remain at school until all testing has been completed, approximately 1:30 PM. Student transportation will not be provided.  Please plan for transporting your student to and from school on the testing dates. Parents and Guardians must provide an updated contact number to the school as we will let you know once your child is finished testing.
 
Cell Phone/ Electronic Device Policy for PSSAs
Cell Phones and Electronic Devices (iWatch/Airpods, etc.) are not permitted in testing areas. If a student is found with a device during a testing session, the device will be confiscated immediately. A security incident report will be completed to the Pennsylvania Department of Education and disciplinary actions will occur. Parents will be notified. The District Assessment Coordinator, Superintendent and/or Principal will determine the extent of the security violation. Envelopes will be available for the collection of electronic devices prior to the test commencing.

Solomon-Plains Elementary School PSSA Testing Schedule 2024

During the months of April/May, our third through fifth grade students will be taking a number of Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) exams in ELA, Math and Science. This school year, our students will be required to participate in these assessments in a paper format. Please be advised that all educational field trips/family vacations that will result in student absences will not be approved during the assessment dates as we are seeking 100% participation from all students. Act 158 requires participation in these annual assessments. The PSSA window is April 22- May 10, 2024.

Our detailed scheduled:

April 22-24, 2024        English Language Arts Grades 3-5

April 29-30, 2024        Mathematics Grades 3-5

May 1-2, 2024             Science Grades 4

*Students must not be late for school on testing days—ARRIVAL at 8:25 A.M.

Wilkes-Barre Cyber Academy students Grades 3-4-5 (Solomon-Plains Elementary) will be required to report on scheduled days for their assessments. Mr. Correll or Mrs. Jarnot will reach out directly to each Cyber student with the testing schedule. Cyber students will receive breakfast and lunch at school and can be picked up at the completion of each testing day.
