Epidermolysis Awareness

Epidermolysis Awareness

The students from Ms. Unice's Kindergarten class learned about Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) during its awareness week – October 24-28th. EB is a rare genetic skin disorder. People that have EB have extremely fragile skin that sometimes blisters or tears from trauma. It is not contagious. They call it the "butterfly" disorder because their skin is as fragile as a butterflies wing. There currently is no cure for EB, but hopefully by raising awareness we will soon!

Kindergarten read children's books describing this special condition and were given a special treat, lollipops and cupcakes in the shape of a butterfly. The lessons stressed was how it is okay to be different from one another, and how important it is to treat every person with respect.
