Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins Visit Dr. Kistler

On February 5, Dr. Kistler Elementary School was visited by some special guests from the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins Hockey Team.

Penguins announcer Mike O'Brien and #41 hockey player Barry Goers brought the fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students some important lessons. Students learned about good work and study habits, the importance of a healthy diet, and treating others with respect. They heard about what a large role teamwork and sportsmanship play both on and off the ice rink. Students also received some important tips on how to deal with bullies. The messages that Mike and Barry brought to the students were summed up with the motto "Mind, Body, and Heart."

Team mascot Tux the Penguin even made a special visit and was the crowd favorite. He helped a lucky student try on all of a gear that a Penguins player wears. A student was chosen from each homeroom for a special hockey skill clinic at the conclusion of the presentation.
