Math Counts Competition

Wilkes-Barre Area School District Junior High Math Students recently took part in the Math Counts Competition held at Wyoming Valley Middle School on Saturday, February 11, 2017. The MATHCOUNTS Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides engaging math programs to U.S. middle school students of all ability levels in order to build confidence and improves attitudes towards math and problem-solving.

The three schools Solomon, GAR and MHS, under the supervision of teachers Jennifer Decker, Cecilia Baltusavich, Holly Shubilla, Mary Ann Rizzo and Brittany Scarnulis have created math clubs geared to fostering growth and laying a foundation for future math success. Working together they plan math events, trips and practice sessions that enrich and provide rigorous real life problem-solving opportunities for their students.
