King’s College Math Discussion Dinner - May 4, 2017

Math Discussion

Wilkes-Barre Area School District elementary and secondary math teachers joined the King’s College Math Faculty in a night of math discussion and sharing. This idea was spearheaded by Dr. Dan Ghezzi, King’s College, and Wilkes-Barre Area School District Math Supervisors, Corinne Drost and Mike Corcoran.
In the spirit of information sharing and collaboration, the purpose of the discussion was to exchange ideas and trends in student education from elementary to college level mathematics. This will allow math faculties at both institutions to create a more seamless transition as students move from one level to the next. The goal in this first meeting was to learn what could be done to reinforce the “College Ready” atmosphere in Wilkes-Barre Area classrooms and prepare students for future success in the next level of their education. Curriculum was shared, as well as grading policies, homework policies, calculator issues and a “day in the life” of everyone present at Elementary, High School and College. The evening culminated with a dinner sponsored by King's College.
