Steamtown National Historic Site

Students

The 4th grade classes at Heights-Elementary visited the Steamtown National Historic Site on May 15th. The students learned about different jobs of the railroad and were able to measure the distance between railroad tracks and the wheels of the trains. Some of them even got under the trains! In the afternoon, they went to the Rails to Trails park and the students tested the acidity of the water, they tested the oxygen level of the water and were able to observe living things in river water. It was a great trip and a wonderful experience for the students!
