Junior Achievement Center Experience
Junior Achievement GAR, Meyers and Solomon Junior High advanced 7th grade students recently attended a field trip to the Junior Achievement Center in Pittston, Pa.   District Math Teachers Mary Krolewski (MHS), Brittany Scarnulis (MHS), Holly Shubilla (GAR), and Jennifer Decker (Solomon Junior High) worked to prepare students for the online material that they would use on the trip and students were able to take part in real life activities using math. The goal of the trip is for students to walk away with the knowledge that they will use math in many facets of their lives.
Since 1919, Junior Achievement's purpose has been to educate and inspire young people to value free enterprise and understand business and economics to improve the quality of their lives. It's capstone programs focus on three key content areas: entrepreneurship, financial literacy and work readiness. Their mission, as is Wilkes-Barre Areas, is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy.
