Superintendent's Update - November 19, 2021
Last night I had the pleasure of attending the musical Little Shop of Horrors presented by our Wolfpack Players. Let me just say, WOW! What a talented group of individuals we have in our schools. The acting, vocal performances, choreography, costumes and stage props (sets) made me question if I was still on Wolfpack Way or did I somehow end up on Broadway in New York…I don’t want this to sound like a review, but…it was great! If you get a chance this weekend, show your support for the Arts and join us in the Wilkes-Barre Area High School Auditorium (2021 Wolfpack Way, Plains, PA)

  • Friday, November 19th at 7:00 pm
  • Saturday, November 20th at 7:00 pm
  • Sunday, November 21 at 2:00 pm
On another note, there is still time to sign up for this Saturday’s vaccine clinic (Pfizer vaccine), through Pediatrics Association of Kingston, for students 5 and up. We currently have over 150 students signed-up and we are still able to register more.  Again, this clinic will be held at Kistler Elementary School, this Saturday, November 20 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. This past week, the GAR Middle School asked a simple question, “Why are you proud to be a student or teacher at G.A.R. Memorial Middle School?

After almost 650 responses I thought I would share with you what some of our students have said:

From our 6th Grade Students:
“I am PACK PROUD to be a student at G.A.R. because the teachers are so nice and they explain everything beautifully and clearly… I love the classrooms and I love the school principal she is so nice and sweet, she makes so many fun events, Thank you Mrs. Myers! (P.S. sorry if I spelled your name wrong.)”

“I am proud to be a student at G.A.R. because this is a fun and amazing school…it’s the school that makes you take a step to greatness…”

“I am proud to be a student at G.A.R. Memorial Middle School because everyday I learn something new. I meet new people and do new activities…I'm proud to be able to make it to this school…”

From our 7th Grade Students:
“I'm proud to have amazing teachers…I am ready to become a bigger and better person.”

“I am proud to be a student at G.A.R Memorial Middle School because there are a lot of amazing kids at this school and I'm proud of being one of them.”

"I'm proud to be a student at G.A.R because I'm happy to work with all teachers and students…I want to be a role model to the younger students.”

From our 8th Grade Students:
“I'm proud to be a student at G.A.R Memorial Middle School because we're in a friendly environment where some great friendships can be made…”

“...some of my friends that would have been in Meyers are now here and the teachers are very nice…”

“…All the teachers and faculty are supportive and interactive with students and makes me, personally, feel at comfort while at school. This is our second home and I wouldn't want it any other way.”

Thank you to all of the students and staff that had taken time to answer this question.  I am #WBASDPROUD of all of you!

Have a great Weekend!
