Superintendent's Update - December 3, 2021
Good Afternoon,

The Wilkes-Barre Area School District received information last night, at approximately 11:39 pm, regarding a threat to one of our schools through Safe2Say.

The District, along with officers from the Plains Township Police Department, and other law enforcement agencies immediately began investigating the information.

Out of an abundance of caution, all buildings in the Wilkes-Barre Area School District were closed today to provide the necessary time needed to investigate the situation.

The threat was traced to another state where their local law enforcement has been contacted and are investigating.

I want to commend our students who brought this information to our attention and also thank their families for cooperating with us in the early morning hours.

Although today was an inconvenience for many of our parents, students, and families, I can assure our community that our top priority will always be the safety of our students and staff.

All schools will be open on Monday.
