My name is Laura Vazquez and I am Kistler Elementary new School/Community Liaison. I come from Brooklyn, NY and received a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from CUNY Lehman College. Prior to accepting the new position, I worked with pre-kindergartners as a teacher’s assistant at St. Nicks – St. Mary’s Catholic School in Wilkes Barre. The new experience gave me the opportunity to help children learn and grow confidently to become good learners. The passion I developed working with children gives me the opportunity to integrate my background experience of working with those in need and make use of what I learned as a teacher's assistant. I'm eager to work in a school environment where I can be of assistance, provide support services for children, whose education may be affected by outside factors, and to bridge the gap between home, school, and community.
