Have fun, stay active, keep learning and enjoy yummy, FREE lunches and snacks all summer long. We will be “Serving up Summer” at these 7 locations throughout the city: 

  • Coal Street Park- Coal Street & North Sherman Street
  • Iron Triangle Playground- Corner of Hickory Street & Metcalf Street
  • Spruce Street Playground- On Spruce Street just after Blackman Street
  • Huber Park- Stanton Street and Huber Street
  • Parsons Park- On Scott Street just after Matson Avenue
  • Miner Park- South Wilkes-Barre on Old River Road
  • Wilkes-Barre Family YMCA 40 W. Northampton Street (*Note: Space at the Y is limited to 40 kids daily)

Monday through Friday, 10:00am-2:00pm.  Beginning Monday, June 25, 2018 & ending Friday August 17th, 2018.  Lunch served 11:30am-12:30pm, Snack served 1:30pm

Students in Mrs. Joyce's 8th grade Reading classes were inspired by Malala Yousafzai's memoir to contribute to her organization, the Malala Fund, which supports educational initiatives around the world for children who lack access to a quality education.  Students raised funds by designing and selling t-shirts.  Malala Yousafzai was shot by the Taliban in 2012.  She survived and continues to campaign for education. [...click for more]

Tashawn Qualls and Vanessa Everett each received a $1000.00 scholarship from Luzerne County Head Start.  Each were presented their award on 5/21/2018 at a luncheon at the Woodlands Inn and Resort sponsored by the Head Start.  Luzerne County Head Start also celebrated their 53 years in service.  [...click for more]

This year the 5th Cohort of College Ready Math students visited the Luzerne County Community College Campus on May 3, 2018. As a result of successfully completing Math 101 at their respective schools, Coughlin, Meyers, and GAR students had the opportunity to schedule for their fall course, obtain student Id's, hear about campus life and be a part of the College for the day. These students will head to LCCC with 3 college credits under their belt - they are well on the way to success as College Students. [...click for more]
