WBA CAPAA Artists Win 1st and 2nd place in the Congressional Art Awards!

CAPAA Application for 2026-2027 School Year Open March 2nd, 2026!

It is with great excitement for the 2026-2027 school year that The Wilkes-Barre Area School District Creative and Performing Arts Academy announce that on March 2, 2026, the application process will be open to all students, in current grades 8th thru 11th, interested in auditioning/interviewing for the Creative and Performing Arts Academy of the Wilkes-Barre Area School District in the following tracks: Art, Music: Choral/Vocal/Instrumental Performance, and Theatre Arts.

CAPPA 3rd Annual Art Exhibit

The Wilkes-Barre Area Creative and Performing Arts Academy will be holding their 3rd annual art exhibit, Young Artists on Canvas, on February 20th from 5 pm - 7pm and the Circle Centre for the Arts.  See full information on the flyer attached here.

CAPAA Art Student Wins Statewide Competition

The Auditor General of Pennsylvania, Timothy DeFoor, visited Wilkes-Barre HIgh School on Monday to recognize three CAPAA Art students for their success in the statewide "Be Money Smart" Financial Literacy Book Cover competition.

Nearly 215 students participated statewide, with only eight finalists selected.  Three of the finalists and the winner are from our district's CAPAA Art program, Abigail Thompson (10th grade), Orliemily Medina Padron ( 9th grade) and the overall winner whose artwork will be featured on the book's cover, Olivia Green (9th grade).
