Robert Ashford and Michael Hamel earned the bronze medal at the PIAA District 2 Doubles Tennis tournament held at Kirby Park on May 18th.

The Wilkes-Barre Area School District Business Academy and King’s College will offer opportunities for affiliation in academics. Business Academy students will have the opportunity to engage in educational experiences on the King’s College campus during the spring semester of their senior year.

FBLA Winners

WBA FBLA Members Shine at State Competition

Seventy-two student members of the Future Business Leaders of America recently attended the State Competition in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Under the membership of teacher Ms. Amanda Mendoza and Mr. Mike Day, several students were winners in their business category.  Casey Morgan and Brandon Prevuznak earned an invitation to the national competition with their 2nd place win in Network Design.  Click more to see the list of winners and student photos.

Student Trig Winners

WBA Students Win Top Honors at the Trig Star Competition

Seven students from the Wilkes-Barre Area High School participated in the Trig Star Competition at Penn State Wilkes-Barre on March 24, 2023.  Students were given one hour to complete the exam and were scored on accuracy and time of completion.  Out of over 30 contestants, all of the WBASD students placed in the top 15. The trophy was brought back to the high school for a second year in a row. Congratulations to all of the participants!

Frida Kahlo Parody

Arianna Cruz's Art Receives National Recognition

Arianna Cruz, 12th grade CAPAA art student, received a national award from Scholastic Arts.  Her piece, titled "Friday Kahlo Parody" was first selected for a regional gold key.  It was displayed at the Everhart Museum in Scranton this March.  The recognition allowed her to move on to the national competition where she won a silver medal.  She is invited to attend the national award ceremony in New York City this June to receive her award.
