Fun N Food @ the Park Food-n- Fun @ the Park

Have fun, stay active, keep learning and enjoy yummy, FREE lunches and snacks all summer long. We will be “Serving up Summer” at these 7 locations throughout the city: 

  • Coal Street Park- Coal Street & North Sherman Street
  • Iron Triangle Playground- Corner of Hickory Street & Metcalf Street
  • Spruce Street Playground- On Spruce Street just after Blackman Street
  • Huber Park- Stanton Street and Huber Street
  • Parsons Park- On Scott Street just after Matson Avenue
  • Miner Park- South Wilkes-Barre on Old River Road
  • Wilkes-Barre Family YMCA 40 W. Northampton Street (*Note: Space at the Y is limited to 40 kids daily)

Monday through Friday, 10:00am-2:00pm.  Beginning Monday, June 25, 2018 & ending Friday August 17th, 2018.  Lunch served 11:30am-12:30pm, Snack served 1:30pm 

 
Abby Colleran explains her project. Advanced English students re-imagine ‘Romeo and Juliet’ at Coughlin
On Friday, Coughlin High School ninth grade advanced English students got to show off, and celebrate, a wide range of projects spawned by their study of William Shakespeare’s iconic saga of star crossed lovers. About 114 students took turns having mini-parties on stage at the high school’s second location, the former Mackin Elementary building now housing grades nine and 10. Congratulations to the 71 students that were inducted at Coughlin's 96th annual National Honor Society Induction held on Thursday, June 7, 2018 in the Coughlin gymnasium.  
Charity Basketball Game Children's Miracle Network Basketball Fundraiser
On May 30, 2018, two students from Coughlin High School, Aaron Bennett and Shane Yearwood, organized a charity basketball game to support the Children's Miracle Network. Visit PAHomepage to see the broadcast regarding the event. 
 
Alex Mykulyn, Student Guest Writer for the Citizens' Voice Coughlin High School’s legacy: A rich history comes full circle
According to Coughlin’s History Club, in 1890, the Wilkes Barre High School opened as a place to house high school students and give them an education while providing a home for clubs such as the literary societies, Cliosophic and Sorosis. Wilkes-Barre High School was on the corner of Union Street and North Washington Street, very near the current site of Coughlin. Read the full article at The Citizens' Voice 
College Ready Math Wilkes-Barre Area College Ready Math Students Visit LCCC
This year the 5th Cohort of College Ready Math students visited the Luzerne County Community College Campus on May 3, 2018. As a result of successfully completing Math 101 at their respective schools, Coughlin, Meyers, and GAR students had the opportunity to schedule for their fall course, obtain student Id's, hear about campus life and be a part of the College for the day. These students will head to LCCC with 3 college credits under their belt - they are well on the way to success as College Students.
