Spanish Examination Recognition


Eighteen world language students from E.L. Meyers Junior-Senior High School attained national and local chapter recognition on the 2017 National Spanish Examinations. Meyers students have a long history of high achievement on these exams and are taught by Spanish teachers, Mrs. Tamara Pegarella and Miss Susan LaCoe. The National Spanish Examinations are administered each year in grades 6 through 12, and are sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. Students are tested at various levels and in one of three categories: classroom experience, outside experience or bilingual.

Ashly Gutierrez earned a gold medal nationally and fourth place trophy from the local chapter. Tracy Lopez earned a silver medal nationally & regional honorable mention. Jamie Vergara, Alexander Sliker, Lydia McFarlane, Anita Sosa Vergara and Abril Castillo earned national Bronze Medal & Regional Honorable Mention. Manuelle Lamboy Torres, German Torres, Camille Infante, Alexis Perez, Helen Pineda-Gonzalez, James Langan, Forest Nguyen, Briana Rojas, Eileen Cruz, Maria Estrella and Elias Torres earned National & Regional Honorable Mentions
