Mateo Cruz wins 1st Place in Statewide Dental Contest

Mateo Cruz, a Solomon-Plains Elementary third grader, won 1st place in the Pennsylvania Dental Association Contest.  The contest took place during the National Children’s Dental Health Month.  Mateo’s artwork was chosen from more than 120 entries from third grade students across the entire state of Pennsylvania.  For his great effort, Mateo received a check for $500 and a custom framing of his poster.  In addition, his teacher, Mrs. Dlugosh, received $250 to use for her classroom.  Mr. Flynn accepted a $250 check awarded to Solomon-Plains Elementary.  A school assembly was held in Mateo’s honor during which Dr. Brian Miller, a local orthodontist, presented Mateo with his award.  Mateo will have a feature article in the next issue of the Pennsylvania Dental Journal.
