Simple Gifts Performs at Solomon Elementary

Solomon Elementary Students were entertained by 2 fantastic musicians, Linda Littleton and Karen Hirshon, from the musical group Simple Gifts.  These two women easily switched between 12 musical instruments. The duo introduced the students to a wide array of new musical instruments including the fiddle, mandolin, banjo, guitar, guitjo, recorders, bowed psaltery, hammered dulcimer, baritone fiddle, spoons, and even percussion instruments.  They performed an impressive collection of ethnic folk styles from Irish jigs to Gypsy melodies.  Their enthusiasm and love for music was contagious.
