4-6 Science Lesson with "Dr. Bones"

Students in 4-6 enjoyed having their “guest” instructor, Dr. Bones, teach them how to dissect barn owl pellets.  Students learned how the owl pellets form and used their tools to dissect the owl pellets and identify the bones, teeth, hair, and scales from the different species of the owl’s prey like mice, voles, shrews, birds, and fish.  The students showed each part of the different mammalian skeletons by gluing the bones on a chart.  The students will share their findings and describe the mammal populations that provide prey for T. alba, the barn owl.
