Mr. Hal Gabriel

Mr. Hal Gabriel possesses a distinguished career in education and administration, complemented by a rich background in business and athletics. His academic journey commenced with his graduation from G.A.R. Memorial High School in 1982, followed by an Associate Degree in Business Administration from Luzerne County Community College (LCCC) in 1984. He furthered his education by earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration in 1988, a Teacher's Certification in Social Studies from King's College in 1994, a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Bloomsburg University in 2004, a Principal's Certification from Bloomsburg University in 2006, and a Superintendent Letter from Edinboro University in 2010.

Before he entered the educational sector, Mr. Gabriel served as a Tax Account Manager for Local Taxes at HA Berkheimer, where he was employed for eight years. His transition to education began in 1996 when he joined the Wilkes-Barre Area School District as a teacher. His leadership abilities quickly became evident, leading to his appointment as the Dean of Students at G.A.R. in 2002. His administrative career continued to ascend with roles as Assistant Principal at Meyers in 2006 and at Heights Murray in 2007, before being appointed as the Head Principal at Heights in 2010. In 2017, Mr. Gabriel assumed the role of Principal at Coughlin/Mackin, and currently, he oversees all Special Programs within the Wilkes-Barre Area School District.

Beyond his professional achievements in education and business, Mr. Gabriel has dedicated nearly four decades to coaching football within the Wilkes-Barre Area School District. His commitment has spanned both paid and volunteer positions, primarily at G.A.R., with a year at Meyers, and continuing with five years of volunteer coaching with the Wolfpack. His enduring contribution to athletics underscores his passion for mentorship and his commitment to the development of young individuals both on and off the field.

Mr. Michael Day

Mr. Michael Day is a 1992 graduate of Coughlin High School.  He holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Education from Bloomsburg University.  Mr. Day is certified in Business, Computers and Information Technology Grades K-12, Social Studies Content Knowledge Grades 7-12, Elementary Pre K - 4th Grade, Elementary 5th - 6th Grade, and Driver and Safety Education Grades 7-12.  He has taught in PA Public Schools for twenty-seven years.
 
Mr. Day has been a Varsity Basketball and Varsity Volleyball coach.  Currently, he is a PIAA Basketball and Volleyball Official. He is also a Co-Adviser to the Future Business Leaders of America Club.

Dr. Renee L. Pizzella-Koulik

Dr. Renee L. Pizzella is a proud graduate of Coughlin High School. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism, Public Relations & Advertising from Temple University, a Master of Science degree in Public Administration, from Keller Graduate School of Management, a Doctorate of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from North Central University, and a Post-Doctoral Certificate in School Management & Leadership from Harvard University. Dr. Pizzella received her teaching certificate from Kings College and is certified to teach Business, Computer Information & Technology (K-12), Elementary (K-4), Family & Consumer Science Education (K-12), Library Instruction (K-12), and Secondary Social Studies (7-12). In addition to her nearly two decades of employment at Wilkes-Barre Area School District, Dr. Pizzella is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of College Coaching Elite; a college admission consulting firm specializing in SAT prep, college admissions, scholarship procurement, and financial aid consulting. Dr. Pizzella is a diehard Philadelphia Eagles fan and she enjoys nothing more than Sundays at The Linc as a season ticket member. Born and raised in Plains, Dr. Pizzella now enjoys the quiet life in the wilderness of Shavertown with her family, pets, and the deer!
