WBA Math Students Attend LCCTM Math Contest at Wilkes University

Wilkes-Barre Area High School Math students recently participated in the Wilkes-University LCCTM (Luzerne County Council of Teachers of Mathematics) Math Contest held annually on the campus of Wilkes University. This is a day of both individual and team math competition. Students from all across Luzerne County attend each year. Wilkes-Barre Area School District is proud to share that Onyx (MIchael) Vidzicki placed 1st overall, and was awarded a full scholarship to Wilkes University, covering all 4 years. In addition, our school also placed first in the junior team division by having the highest total score from the top four students from each school. Wilkes-Barre Area is proud of our Math students and their progress and look forward to next year’s competition.

Trig Star Contest

Details: 
The Trig-Star contest is an annual high school mathematics competition sponsored by the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS). The contest, which is based on the practical application of Trigonometry, recognizes the most proficient students from high schools throughout the nation, as well as their teachers.

Focus Group: Grade 9 -12 
This contest has a strong emphasis on Trigonometry and its applications.

Factoring Calculator

Check your factoring when no one else can, but be sure to learn it for that time when there is no calculator but your own brain.

WBA Math Department Summer Learning with Exact Path

This summer, WBA Math Department will continue to offer the use of the online learning program Exact Path.

Students have used this tool all year in grades k - 8. It provides personalized learning across K8 in reading, language arts, and math.

Information is attached explaining the program and best practices for its use this summer.

Keep your students engaged, continuing to build their math skills so that they return next year empowered and ready to tackle a new school year.
